Republican National Committee (RNC) chair candidate Harmeet Dhillon, a well-known Indian-American lawyer, has claimed that she is being subjected to bigoted criticism from her fellow party officials as a result of her Sikh faith. She has also vowed to keep running for the top job despite the attacks, claiming that she is the target of bigoted attacks from her fellow party leaders.

The 54-year-old Ms. Dhillon, a former co-chair of the California Republican Party, is vying for the job against Ronna McDaniel.

To be very clear, Ms. Dhillon stated in a series of tweets on Monday that she would not be deterred from bringing about positive change at the RNC, including new standards of accountability, transparency, integrity, and decency. “To be very clear, no amount of threats to me or my team, or bigoted attacks on my faith traceable directly to associates of the chair, will deter me from bringing about positive change at the RNC,” she added.

On Monday, according to Ms. Dhillon, she was the target of several threatening tweets.

“Today there are threats coming. One of Ronna’s state chair supporters responded to my message about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by threatening me with consequences if I didn’t stop the “annoying” text messages from voters (no one on my team has urged anybody to text members), “Insinuated she.

A costly RNC consultant threatened to call another member of my team after they raised concerns about the organization’s highest-paid vendors. The message was sent that if they didn’t stop talking, my supporter will never work for the RNC or on a particular presidential campaign, she wrote on Twitter under the verified account Pnjaban.

On January 27, a Republican National Committee (RNC) chair election will take place.

For the role of Republican National Committee Chairwoman versus McDaniel, Ms. Dhillon has gotten support.

She stated, “We need to decentralise the RNC out of DC and away from the consultants, lobbyists, and quite frankly, the beholden politicians that dictate the party’s path at the expense of what our voters desire.

Her Sikh faith has been brought up by opponents, according to a Politico newspaper report from last week, which has unnerved some committee members.

According to Ms. Dhillon, it is “upsetting to find that a small group of RNC members, in a tight contest for RNC chair, have chosen to doubt my suitability to manage the RNC by using my ardent Sikh faith as a weapon against me.” The incumbent, her rival McDaniel, has denounced such a religiously motivated attack.

“I would never support such attacks as a fellow follower of a minority faith. I’ve promised to conduct a positive campaign, and I will, she replied.
