An Indian-American political activist named Shefali Razdan Duggal has been selected by the US Senate to serve as the nation’s new representative to the Netherlands. In a statement released on March 11, the White House referred to Shefali Razdan Duggal as “Nominee for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.”

A Kashmiri, Duggal is. After graduating from Miami University, she pursued a master’s degree at New York University. She worked for the Democratic National Committee as a deputy national finance chair and served on the national finance committee for Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. She was also national co-chair of Women for Biden.

In accordance with the official statement, she was motivated by her political activism to serve as Vice-Chair of the Credentials Standing Committee at the 2020 Democratic National Convention, a member of the Rules Committee at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, and a member of the Credentials Committee at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
