The Taliban is expected to appoint new officials and envoys to Afghanistan’s foreign diplomatic missions. According to Inamullah Samangnai, the Islamic Emirate’s Deputy Spokesman, the majority of Afghanistan’s diplomatic posts abroad are being operated by envoys nominated by the previous government.
He stated that the Islamic Emirate is in contact with the Afghan embassies around the world.
“Activities will soon improve, and some new individuals will be introduced in place of those who are absent or have left their jobs. Or, in some embassies and consulates, some persons who are a better alternative will be introduced “he stated.
Meanwhile, according to Tolo News, a number of former diplomats have stated that the Taliban would not be able to nominate ambassadors to Afghanistan’s diplomatic missions until the Islamic Emirate is recognised by the world community.
“Appointing new persons to diplomatic posts is impossible until the Taliban government is recognised by the nations where they wish to appoint new officials,” Shukria Barakzai, a former Afghan ambassador to Norway, explained.
“If (Kabul) does not have strong political relations with those embassies, those embassies will be unable to conduct their jobs correctly,” Ahmad Khan Andar, a political activist, explained.
According to Tolo News, ten countries have opened embassies in Kabul, while the Islamic Emirate has only employed new ambassadors in the Afghan embassy in Pakistan.
