Pakistan faces a 'uphill task' to bring Kashmir to the forefront of the UN agenda, according to a Pakistani minister.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has admitted that Islamabad confronts a “uphill task” in bringing the Kashmir issue to the “center” of the United Nations agenda.

Mr Zardari also stumbled when referring to India, first referring to it as “our friend” before using the term “neighboring” nation.

No matter what the subject or agenda is at a UN forum or platform, Pakistan brings up the Jammu and Kashmir issue.

However, because the broader UN membership views Kashmir as a matter between India and Pakistan, it is unable to gain traction or support for its agenda.

After New Delhi repealed Article 370 of the Constitution to remove the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, tensions between India and Pakistan soared.

The removal of Article 370 was an internal issue, India has categorically stated to the world community. It also urged Pakistan to accept reality and cease spreading false information against India.

India has made it clear to Pakistan that it wants friendly ties with Islamabad in an atmosphere free of hostility, terrorism, and violence.

Although it is challenging to spread the truth, Mr. Zardari said, “We are persistent in our efforts.” He also added that he makes an effort to bring up the suffering of the people of Kashmir and Palestine whenever possible, whether it be in the UN Security Council or at other gatherings.

Your analogy, in my opinion, is very warranted. The suffering of the Kashmiri and Palestinian populations shares many characteristics. We’d like to see more attention paid to Kashmir as well as Palestine, and I believe it’s fair to state that neither issue has received any attention from the UN.

In an interview with the media, Mr. Zardari discussed the results of the Women in Islam Conference and the First Islamophobia Day on the margins of the Commission on the Status of Women. (CSW).
