According to Pakistani news outlet Geo News, Maryam Nawaz, the senior vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and daughter of Nawaz Sharif, insulted Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, by declaring that the “game is over” after the exodus of his party’s senior members.

During her address to the PML-N youth conference, Maryam Nawaz made the statement in Vehari, Pakistan. When Imran Khan was jailed on May 9 and violent protests broke out all over Pakistan, she spoke about the happenings during her speech.

When making fun of Imran Khan’s party over the widespread departure of its leaders, Maryam Nawaz said that there were queues of people leaving the organisation.

According to Geo News, the security forces’ campaign of repression against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf began after attacks on military and civilian targets, including the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and the Lahore Corps Commander’s House (Jinnah House).

In the wake of the chaos on May 9, more than 70 party leaders and attorneys have left the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

The senior vice president of the PML-N claimed that Imran Khan was the mastermind of the “terrorism” on May 9, yet his employees are being tried in a court for anti-terrorism.

Imran Khan demanded immediate meetings with government representatives in the meanwhile. Thousands of his top aides and supporters were jailed during a crackdown on them, and many of them left his party, according to a report in Pakistan’s The Express Tribune newspaper. This comes as pressure rises on him.
