As he hinted at a major conflict with Russia, US President Joe Biden urged Americans to leave Ukraine immediately.

According to news agency AFP, the President remarked in an interview with NBC News, “American citizens should leave now.”

“We’re dealing with one of the world’s largest militaries. It’s a very different environment, and things might quickly spiral out of control “he continued.

In particular, the White House has expressed growing concern about the possibility of conflict, and Biden has been trying to rally support among European allies for crippling sanctions against Russia if it attacks.

“If Russia invades, that means tanks and troops crossing the Ukrainian border again,” Biden stated earlier this week. “We’ll put a stop to it.”

He had stated that this would be detrimental to Russia’s economy, and that Germany could face supply issues as a result.

“We are collectively ready, and NATO as a whole is ready,” Biden added, referring to the formidable Western alliance, of which Ukraine is not a member.

Since November, Ukraine and other Western countries have accused Russia of amassing large numbers of troops along the Ukrainian border, possibly in preparation for a “invasion.”

Russia refuted the charge, claiming that it has the right to mobilise soldiers within its borders to defend its territory because NATO’s activities pose a threat to Russian border security.
