The horrific news of an Indian railway accident that has claimed nearly 300 lives has left US President Joe Biden speechless, he stated on Saturday.
One of the deadliest rail accidents to occur in India in almost three decades was the collision of three trains in the Balasore district of Odisha. “(First Lady Dr) Jill (Biden) and I are devastated by the dreadful news of the deadly train catastrophe in India, which has left at least 288 people dead and more than 1,100 injured. Biden released a statement in which he expressed his condolences to those who had lost loved ones and the many more who were injured in this terrible incident.
Because of the close ties that exist between our two countries due to shared family and cultural ties, people across America are mourning with the people of India. As the recovery effort advances, we will remember the people of India in our prayers, Biden said.
