In an interview that was televised on Friday, US President Joe Biden, who is 80 years old and running for re-election in 2024, claimed that his senior years had given him a wealth of insight.
In his first press interview since formally beginning his campaign last week, he told an MSNBC reporter, “I know more than the vast majority of people and I have accumulated a hell of a lot of wisdom.”
Compared to other candidates, I have greater experience. And I believe I’ve demonstrated my ability to be both honourable and effective, said Democratic candidate Joe Biden, who would be 86 by the end of a second term.
With the exception of the occasional joke, Biden has so far hardly brought up his age, which is seen as his biggest disadvantage by voters.
The 76-year-old Republican Donald Trump could challenge him once more in 2024.
