Ousted Imran Khan, the prime minister of Pakistan, was arrested in connection with a corruption case, which led to widespread demonstrations throughout the nation. Imran Khan’s attorneys claim there was a plot to have him killed in prison. His solicitors alleged that he was tortured and that meals were tainted with insulin to cause a heart attack.

The former cricketer-turned-politician, who is now the leader of the opposition Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf party, claimed he was denied access to the loo and given an injection to cause a gradual heart attack. His lawyers reported that after spending more than an hour with him, he reportedly reported experiencing chest symptoms.

The Pakistan Supreme Court deemed Mr. Khan’s arrest on Tuesday to be “illegal” and ruled that he must be released right now. He would show up in front of the Islamabad High Court today to request a pre-arrest bail and may even speak to his supporters outside the court.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is holding him in custody.

“This is an effort to murder him. He claimed that he was not permitted to sleep. He was detained in a filthy space without a bed or toilet. According to news outlet ANI, “his lawyers told the media that he was not given anything to eat since he was carried to police lines at 3 am.

They claimed that Mr. Khan, an ex-cricketer who is still well-liked in Pakistan, urged people to continue the fight to reestablish the rule of law.

The accusations of a murderous conspiracy come more than a month after a Pakistani minister, Rana Sanaullah, claimed that “either Imran Khan or us will get murdered.” Mr. Khan also escaped a shooting at a rally in November.

The Supreme Court denounced Mr. Khan’s arrest from the court where he had come to appear in a case yesterday, stating that a person cannot be taken into custody outside of court property without the registrar’s consent.

Following months of political unrest in Pakistan, Mr. Khan was detained in the Al-Qadir Trust case just hours after he was reprimanded by that country’s stern military for claiming that a senior officer was planning to be murdered.

A corps commander’s home in Lahore was set on fire as a result of demonstrations by his followers. Additionally, the general headquarters of the army in Rawalpindi was under siege.
