The city administration announced on Tuesday that all flights at Russia’s Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg had been temporarily halted. No justification was given.

Fighter jets had been dispatched to the scene to investigate, according to an unconfirmed media story from the Russian news website Baza.

Reuters was unable to independently verify that claim right away.

All flights at the airport have been halted until 1200 local time, the city administration announced on its official Telegram channel (0900 GMT).

Numerous domestic aircraft bound for St. Petersburg were seen making a U-turn, according to data from the Flight Radar website.
