‘Chowkidar chor hai’ slogans were heard at a gathering conducted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in Pakistan’s Punjab province. According to reports, the gathering was held at Lal Haveli in Pakistan’s Punjab province to protest Imran Khan’s removal as prime minister. Thousands of people joined the rally. Raising slogans, the people referred to the army as “Chowkidar” and branded to them as “thieves” who were “taking” Imran Khan’s mandate.

However, in a viral video, Sheikh Rashid, the former Interior Minister, is seen attempting to stop protestors from shouting a slogan against the country’s troops.

“Don’t raise slogans… we will fight in peace,” he stated.

Sheikh Rashid emphasised the National Assembly’s late-night decision, saying, “If you want to save your country, don’t make a choice in the dead of night, but in daylight.”

“Eid will be celebrated on April 29th. Be prepared to take the jail bharo movement from Lal Haveli on a daily basis. “I will remove it from Karachi myself,” he vowed, adding that he would “inform all Sindhis that they (the opposition) are thieves, docents, and robbers.””

The National Assembly began voting on the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan’s PTI administration late Saturday night, with 174 members voting in favour of the resolution that deposed Imran Khan.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held protests around the country on Sunday to protest party leader Imran Khan’s ousting as prime minister by a vote of no-confidence.

The National Assembly session to pick the new premier will now take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, rather than 11 a.m. as previously scheduled.

The nomination papers of Pakistan’s joint opposition candidate Shehbaz Sharif and PTI’s Shah Mahmood Qureshi for Prime Minister have been approved.

Shehbaz Sharif is the most likely candidate to be the country’s next Prime Minister.
