According to The Telegraph on Sunday, the United Kingdom is preparing arrangements under which people will not be legally obligated to self-isolate after contracting COVID-19.

According to the article, Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants to permanently repeal emergency coronavirus rules as the number of COVID-19 cases in the UK continues to decline. Official guidelines will remain in place, but failure to follow it will not result in fines or legal penalties.

According to the report, the preparations will be finalised in the following weeks, with an announcement planned as early as the spring.

Last week, Health Secretary Sajid Javid announced that in England, COVID-19 self-isolation will be reduced from seven days to five days if a person tests negative twice.
