Apple has issued a security alert about a weakness that allows hackers to take control of iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers, and has urged customers to apply emergency software fixes.

The tech titan delivered patches on Thursday and Wednesday to address what it described as a vulnerability that hackers previously knew about and may be exploiting.

“Apple is aware of a report that this problem may have been actively exploited,” the Silicon Valley-based company said in a statement.

Apple did not say whether it knew how widely the flaw had been exploited.

According to the technical description, a hacker might exploit the issue to gain control of devices, accessing any of their data or capabilities.
