Washington is concerned about the situation in Ukraine, according to US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and is prepared to assist Kiev.

Austin said the US is “extremely worried” about the purported buildup of Russian soldiers on the Ukrainian border and will work to guarantee Kiev has “all it needs” to protect its “sovereign territory” during a speech at the Reagan National Defense Forum on Saturday.

The Pentagon commander stated that he would not speculate on various eventualities relating to Russia’s purported encroachment on the country’s boundaries.

Ukraine and other Western countries have expressed worry in recent weeks about Russia’s claimed escalation in “aggressive acts” on their border, which they describe as “aggressive.” Russia, on the other hand, has denied the allegations, claiming that its troops are only moving within its own borders and at its own discretion.

During his planned video chat with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, December 7, US President Joe Biden plans to discuss the Ukraine crisis, as well as other matters.

Biden said earlier this week that he expects a “long talk” with Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to a query regarding Ukraine.

Russia has stated numerous times that it will maintain its ability to freely transfer armed forces within its borders. Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin, stated on November 23 that Russia has no aggressive plans for Ukraine. Kiev has also gathered about half of its armed forces on the contact line with the Donbas region in the east of the nation, which has alarmed the Kremlin.
