Islamabad invited the Islamic Emirate to the Organization of Islamic Countries summit on December 19 in order to gain international recognition for the Taliban.

According to Waliullah Shaheen, director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Center for Strategic Studies, the Afghan economy, banking system, and normalisation of Afghanistan’s links with the rest of the world are among the meeting’s main agenda issues.

“The meeting’s agenda includes problems such as the economy, financial system, and normalisation of Afghanistan’s connections with the rest of the world,” he added. “The Afghan foreign ministry will participate in this meeting.”

The summit has also been invited by representatives from the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, the European Union, the World Bank, and humanitarian organisations, according to Pakistani media.

“Many Islamic countries have strained relations with Afghanistan. I hope these countries can mend their fences and come to an agreement on recognising Afghanistan “Sayed Ishaq Gailani, the president of Afghanistan’s National Solidarity Movement, said as much.

The Taliban announced their caretaker administration, which is chaired by Hasan Akhund, who has been under UN sanctions since 2001.

It has been more than 100 days since the Taliban took power, but no country in the world has recognised them yet.

The international world has established preconditions for recognition, including respect for women and human rights, the establishment of an inclusive administration, and not allowing Afghanistan to become a safe haven for terrorists.
