On Monday, Pakistani security services announced the death of a prominent Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander who was responsible for numerous attacks on law enforcement officials and polio squads.
An intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders the South Waziristan tribal territory, resulted in the death of Abdul Jabar Shah of the outlawed TTP Gandapur organisation. During the operation, two terrorists also sustained injuries.
The terrorist commander was involved in extortion for the TTP as well as attacks on law enforcement, religious organisations, polio teams, and teams fighting polio.
Law enforcement organisations in the area have now achieved success twice in a row.
Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, the illegal TTP has stepped up its attacks and appears to be getting stronger.
The militant group, which was formed in 2007 as an umbrella organisation for a number of militant groups, broke off a truce with the federal government and gave its members orders to carry out terrorist strikes around the nation.
