In just two months, China has registered nearly 40 million entry-exit trips

National Immigration Administration data indicate a surge in travel after COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, with China recording 39.72 million entry and exit trips between January 8 and March 7.

The yearly increase in the figures was 112.4%.

The number of visas and residence permits for foreigners granted by immigration administration offices nationwide as of March 7 was 122,000, up 33.1% from the period prior to the policy reversal.

Following the reopening of the nation’s borders, Chinese citizens flocked to travel websites and airports, enabling them to benefit from travel after being cut off from the rest of the world.

Holiday travel soared across the nation during the most recent Chinese New Year in late January.
