First Coronavirus victim from Mumbai’s Dharavi slum died, Total Cases At 1638

The novel coronavirus has spread across 180 countries. Today is the 8th day of a 21-day lockout by India. In India, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 1,638. The Ministry of Health of the Union has said 38 people died from this COVID-19 virus.

The first positive case of COVID-19 has been identified, from Mumbai’s Dharavi slum. The patient is undergoing treatment at the hospital in Sion. He is a 56-year-old man.

Eight to ten family members were placed in quarantine. Authorities have sealed the building where he resides and started supplying the tenants with food and other necessities as they could not get out of the house. His past interactions are being tracked.

Dharavi is a heavily inhabited city in Mumbai with over 15 lakhs distributed over 613 hectares. Caution is taken that the cases will not spread to the region, the official statement said.

Mumbai has emerged as one of the hot spots in India for the dissemination of the deadly COVID-19. Although Maharashtra has more than 320 positive virus reports, Mumbai is responsible for more than half of them.

So far, the health department of the city has announced the Koliwada district of Worli and the Goregaon suburbs to be two hotspots in Mumbai.

Globally, more than 8.6 lakh cases of COVID-19 have been reported. So far a total of 42,300 people have died. More deaths have been reported in the United States, Italy and Spain than in China where the outbreak began. The outbreak has a significant influence on both the global economy and the stock market.
