Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is seen as more hostile to India, whilst Pakistan Prime Minister-elect Shehbaz Sharif is seen as more supportive of a bilateral relationship. “India wants a soft administration in Pakistan,” stated Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Foreign Minister, according to the Express Tribune. According to the newspaper, Qureshi said the neighbouring country is “disgusted” with a Pakistani government that defends its interests and pursues an independent foreign policy. The former FM went on to say that while the PTI wants good relations with India, it will not tolerate indiscretions against Kashmir.

However, Imran Khan has recently been praising Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The people and political leaders of Pakistan were astonished to see their Prime Minister applauding India’s foreign policy in front of a gathering of thousands of supporters, according to The News. “It is funny to notice that Imran Khan, who formerly denounced Narendra Modi as Hitler and Nazi leader at international fora, has now applauded his foreign policy at a time when his administration is on the verge of collapse,” The News stated.

Khan applauded Modi’s foreign policy while speaking at a public rally in Malakand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He stated, “I’d want to commend our neighbouring country, Hindustan, for its foreign policy. India’s foreign policy is autonomous and independent, with the sole goal of improving the lives of its own people.” According to the study, Modi maintained amicable connections with old Pakistani allies including as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, and Jordan. Saudi Arabia has now stopped lending to Pakistan, and the UAE, despite Pakistan’s urging, has stopped addressing the Kashmir problem.
