According to newly released documents, US President Joe Biden’s younger dog, Major, caused a lot of trouble for Secret Service agents last year, and they were incensed by the White House’s attempts to downplay bite injuries. The documents were made public in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch. According to the records, Major bit Secret Service agents several times over the course from several months last year. The documents provide a timeline from February to August of last year. One of the emails, which was part of 36 pages of records obtained by Judicial Watch, notes that “at the current rate, an Agent or Officer has been bitten every day this week causing serious damage to attire or harsh to the skin,” the group said of the March 2021 incidents. The documents also show that agents were advised to protect their “hands/fingers” by putting them “in their pockets,” according to Judicial Watch.

However, on March 9, 2021, White House spokesperson Jen Psaki acknowledged only one incident, stating that Major “was surprised by an unfamiliar person and reacted in a way that resulted in a minor injury to the individual.” The statement infuriated the injured agent, who wrote an angry note to a coworker, which has since been redacted.
According to the New York Post, the Secret Service attempted to keep the details of the dog bite incidents out of the public eye.

However, one of the photos provided to Judicial Watch shows an agent wearing a ripped wool overcoat. Two months later, the agent wrote about the incident in a memo, saying that “Major attacked me unprovoked, tearing the wool overcoat I was wearing.”

According to one of the documents, the agent also requested reimbursement for the coat, which was valued at more than $500, but it is unclear whether President Biden paid for it.
“These documents show Major was a dangerous dog, and the Biden White House lied about it, putting Secret Service and other White House personnel at unnecessary risk,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement to the New York Post.
According to the White House, Major, a German Shepherd, was given to family friends last year, but its current location is unknown. Following Major’s departure, the Bidens’ elder German Shepherd, Champ, died, and they adopted a new puppy of the same breed, Commander.
