The White House has said that US President Joe Biden has no plans to call Donald Trump, his predecessor. “No call is scheduled,” reporters were told by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki at a news conference Thursday.

She responded to questions about Biden’s remarks the day before, saying that Trump had left him a “very generous” letter in the Oval Office and that he was planning to speak to him. Trump was not present at his inauguration, a rare occurrence for an outgoing President.

What he conveyed is that, without the agreement of the former president, he did not want to release a private note. But I wouldn’t say that he was looking for it through a phone call, that he was just trying to be respectful of the private letter that was sent at that moment,” Psaki said.”

However, it was unclear until Wednesday whether Trump would retain the tradition of outgoing presidents leaving notes for their successors, given that the former president broke several of the past traditions, including skipping Biden’s inauguration ceremony and never formally congratulating him on his election victory.
