Ian Alexander Jr., the son of actor and director Regina King, committed suicide, according to her representative.
He was 26 years old at the time.
“The loss of Ian has crushed our family to the core. He is a shining light who genuinely cared about the pleasure of others. Our family appreciates your understanding at this sensitive time “According to a statement released by King’s agent.
Alexander was a DJ and a musician. According to his Instagram feed, he performed as “Desduné.” He’d released a new track, “Green Eyes,” on Jan. 7, and was set to play in Los Angeles later this month.

He was King’s only child with her ex-husband, record producer Ian Alexander Sr.
Last year, on his mother’s birthday, King’s son paid homage to her.
“Happy birthday, co! I am very proud of you and inspired by your love, artwork, and gangsta! I will be eternally thankful for the opportunity to witness you seize this lifetime by the throat and make it your own. But having you as my mother is the best present I could ever wish for. It’s quite astounding that you can be everything you are while still making time to be there for me, love me, and support me wholeheartedly.”

“I get emotional because my kid is a fantastic young guy, and it took me being a mother to understand how incredible a lady [my mother] is,” King explained. “You have no concept of unconditional love. You may claim to, but if you don’t have a child, you have no idea what it is. But once you’ve experienced it, it’s the most rewarding thing you’ve ever done. So that’s the best thing about me. Being Ian’s mother.”
