In August of this year, The Emmy Award winner Christina Applegate revealed that she had been diagnosed with MS a few months before. After confirming her multiple sclerosis diagnosis earlier this year, Christina Applegate is starting a new chapter in her life.

Christina Applegate wished her 1.4 million Twitter followers a happy 50th birthday on Thursday, which also happened to be Thanksgiving. “Yup. I turned 50 today. And I have MS. It’s been a hard one”.

“Sending so much love to all of you this day,” Christina Applegate added. “Many are hurting today, and I am thinking of you. May we find that strength to lift our heads up. Mine currently is on my pillow. But I try.”

She openly mentioned her MS journey on Twitter in August, only a few months after being identified. “It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition,” Christina Applegate wrote at the time. “It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some asshole blocks it.”

Christina Applegate has received a lot of love from both friends and admirers since then. Selma Blair, who co-starred with Cameron Diaz in the romantic comedy The Sweetest Thing in 2002, expressed her support in the comments.

“Loving you always. Always here. As are our kids. Beating us up with love,” Blair, 49, commented, to which Christina Applegate replied: “Love you sister. Our kids are so weird.”

Blair has also been forthright about her own MS diagnosis, which she disclosed in 2018. In the discovery+ documentary Introducing, Selma Blair, which Applegate promoted on Twitter, she revealed her battle with the condition.

James Marsden, who co-starred with Applegate in the film Dead to Me, commended her courage as well, telling Entertainment Tonight that it’s “really, really inspiring to see.”

“That is her character. It is just who she is. Nothing is going to keep her down and she is going to battle and fight through anything and I admire her as a person,” In September, Marsden stated.” Just as a compassionate, wonderful human being who is fun to work with but is also, in addition to that, anything that life will throw at her, she will figure out a way to not let it keep her down. And she is doing exactly that.”
