A British MP has been accused of watching pornography while in the British House of Commons. The allegations were made during a meeting in which several female MPs shared their experiences with sexism and harassment. While the Parliamentarian’s name has not yet been made public, a female minister has claimed that she witnessed him viewing pornographic material while sitting behind him. The incident occurred last week, according to The Times, during a select committee hearing.
A second female member of the British Parliament stated that she had observed the man watching pornography at a different time and even attempted to photograph it, but failed.

Conservative MP Pauline Latham told the BBC that several MPs present were “shell shocked” and “couldn’t believe something like that could happen in what’s really a professional place.” She also stated that if the allegations were proven to be true, the man’s job, as well as his position in the Conservative Party, should be terminated.

The British Parliament has recently been at the centre of a debate about sexism and misogyny. The Daily Mail published an article last week alleging that Deputy Labour Leader Angela Rayner uses her legs to distract Prime Minister Boris Johnson when he speaks. This drew widespread condemnation, with even the Prime Minister calling the piece misogynistic.

An MP from the Green Party also stated that The Times had published a report stating that a total of 56 MPs faced sexual misconduct charges, and even asked the Prime Minister if this would be grounds for dismissal. Mr Johnson responded by saying that sexual harassment is “intolerable” and that it would be grounds for dismissal.
