On Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a third national lockdown and, as a result, the hospital where the partner of the Good Morning Britain presenter is receiving treatment has prohibited the entry of loved ones into the premises.
Kate said, speaking to co-host Ben Shephard and Dr. Hilary Jones about the changes, ‘Now I’m in a position I can’t even visit.
‘We’re in lockdown, no visits at all, which I don’t hope will continue for the entire lockdown because I think it’s going to be very impactful.’
Although Kate’s visits to see Derek were ‘uncommon,’ she stressed ‘the ability to get some kind of access was very carefully controlled situations.’
‘Now, I don’t know if every hospital is here, but certainly, where Derek is being treated, there are no visitors at all right now, which is hard,’ she added.

Derek, 53, is one of the longest intensive care Covid-19 patients to be admitted to a hospital with the virus in March.
Although Kate is unable to see Derek for the moment, she said that her two children, Darcey and William, were able to see their father during the Christmas period.
