NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg, echoing international leaders, sharply criticised Russia’s reckless and provocative aggression on Ukraine on Thursday. This, according to NATO’s Secretary General, is a severe violation of international law and a serious threat to Euro-Atlantic security. This comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military action in Ukraine on Thursday, claiming it will defend people.

“I strongly condemn Russia’s irresponsible and provocative aggression on Ukraine,” said NATO Secretary-General Jen Stoltenberg. “Despite repeated warnings and hard efforts to engage in diplomacy, Russia has chosen the path of aggression against a sovereign and independent country once again,” he stated.

He demanded that Russia immediately halt its military activity and respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. NATO allies will also gather to discuss the fallout from Russia’s provocative actions. “During this difficult period, we stand by the people of Ukraine. NATO would go to whatever length to ensure that all Allies are safe and secure “Jen Stoltenberg expressed her displeasure with the situation.

In the meantime, in the wake of the difficult situation in Ukraine, US Vice President Joe Biden said on Thursday that the US will work with NATO allies to provide a strong, united response that deters any action against the Alliance. Despite widespread condemnation and penalties, Russian President Vladamir Putin warned foreign countries on Thursday that any attempt to intervene would result in “consequences you have never seen.”

Large explosions were heard in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa before morning, as international leaders condemned the start of a Russian invasion that might result in catastrophic casualties.

President Biden of the United States slammed Russia’s ‘unprovoked and unjustifiable’ attack, saying Putin has chosen a premeditated conflict that will result in a devastating loss of life and human misery.
