According to Russian state news outlets, the Russian military will observe a ceasefire beginning Saturday at 06:00 GMT in two districts of Ukraine to allow residents to evacuate.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement carried by RIA Novosti and Tass that it has agreed on evacuation routes with Ukrainian forces to allow residents to evacuate the important port of Mariupol in the southeast and the eastern town of Volnovakha.

There has been no immediate confirmation from Ukrainian forces, and it is unclear how long the evacuation routes will be operational.

Ukraine and Russia have reached an agreement on humanitarian corridors, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s adviser, who spoke from Belarus on Thursday. Following the conclusion of the most recent discussions, Ukraine’s presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak announced a tentative deal to allow ceasefires in areas designated as safe corridors. “Also for delivering medicines and food to the most hostile fighting areas,” Podolyak added. He also stated that at the next round of discussions, the two parties will continue to discuss “truce concerns.”
