The Taliban announced on Saturday that 55 IS fighters had surrendered in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province.

According to The Express Tribune, quoting Anadolu Agency, an official statement from the Taliban’s intelligence headquarters in the provincial capital, Jalalabad, announced 55 IS fighters had put down their arms there.

Another batch of 65 terrorists surrendered last week in the same region, which has seen a rise in targeted assassinations and bomb blasts linked to schisms between the Taliban and the Islamic State.

The Taliban claimed earlier this month that they had dismantled an IS bunker in Kabul, which had been accused for numerous strikes.
