Over the weekend, a 35-year-old Florida woman was arrested on suspicion of placing a child inside a laundry dryer and turning on the machine. Amber Chapman, according to the New York Post, has been charged with aggravated child abuse after the 4-year-old boy suffered unusual injuries that landed him in the emergency room. Ms. Chapman was charged with child abuse after the incident in February. According to the Post, the boy, who suffered a grape-sized wound, told doctors that Ms. Chapman had put him inside the machine with some towels and that he “went around and around.”

The 35-year-old was in charge of the boy. According to authorities, he was discovered with injuries to his head, face, back, and abdomen. He told the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in a recorded interview that Ms. Chapman put him in the dryer with towels and turned on the machine. According to ABC affiliate WFTV, the 35-year-old even opened the door mid-cycle and then closed it again to resume the tumbling.

According to the medical report, the Child Protection Team was unable to determine whether the injuries were caused by being placed in the dryer. However, it was also stated that the boy’s injuries were consistent with what he told doctors and deputies.

Amber Chapman was arrested on Saturday after police gathered evidence, but she was later released on a $15,000 bond. The motive for the heinous abuse was not revealed by law enforcement officials.
