The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a coalition of opposition parties in Pakistan, has stepped up rallies against Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government, saying it is fighting for the country’s life and that it would triumph.

“We will win this battle,” PDM and JUI-F head Fazlur Rehman stated at a protest in Karachi. Those who [were imposed] have no understanding of the public’s problems.”

Politicians represent the country’s hope. The nation would not forgive us if we do not play our part today,” Rehman remarked, according to Geo News, adding that state institutions should assess their “mistakes” and ask forgiveness from the nation.

The gathering was held to protest Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government’s “anti-people policies” as well as Pakistan’s soaring inflation.

Rehman, who is also the leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party, lambasted the Imran Khan administration for its “incompetence” and promised to do everything in his power to depose the Pakistan Tareek-e-Insaf.

“We will win this fight, and Pakistan will have a government that actually represents the people and understands their difficulties.” “Those who [were imposed] are unaware of the public’s concerns,” says the author.

“If we don’t push back against the ‘illegitimate’ authorities in the Arabian Sea soon, the country’s survival will be jeopardised,” Rehman stated at the gathering.

Rehman was joined at the rally by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the Senior Vice President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Stressing that the governing Imran Khan administration was elected through a rigged poll, Abbasi said that a new election in Pakistan is the only option to tackle the country’s current problems, according to local media.

The demonstration took place just days after the PDM stated that the ‘Mehngai’ march would begin in provincial capitals before continuing on to Islamabad, according to ARY News.

Rallies against the government over growing inflation would take place in Karachi, Quetta, Lahore, and Peshawar, according to the opposition alliance.
