The US Department of State’s Principal Deputy Spokesperson, Vedant Patel, made history by becoming the first Indian-American to preside over the daily press conference, which his coworkers praised for its professionalism and clarity.

On Tuesday, the 33-year-old Californian Patel, who serves as the State Department’s spokesperson and is on vacation, used the briefing room at the agency’s Foggy Bottom headquarters to address the media about foreign policy matters.

Patel spoke about a variety of subjects during his briefing, including Liz Truss’ election as British prime minister and Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.

Wednesday is the day of his next face-to-face briefing.

In his first appearance on the podium, Vedant Patel did a great job. The White House’s senior associate communications director, Matt Hill, tweeted “kudos to” Vedant Patel for making his podium debut.

It is a great duty to represent the United States internationally, but Vedant handled it with the highest professionalism and transparency, according to Hill.

It’s wonderful to see Vedant Patel at the podium, said Pili Tobar, a former White House deputy communications director.

Congratulations to my friend on a terrific debut, she tweeted.

Gujarat-born Mr. Patel graduated from the University of California, Riverside, and previously worked for President Biden in the White House as an assistant press secretary and spokesperson.

He worked as a spokesperson for the Biden-Harris Transition and the Presidential Inaugural Committee before that.

Additionally, he worked in communications for the Biden Campaign during the primary and general elections.

Previously, Patel served as the congressional representatives Mike Honda and Pramila Jayapal’s communications director.

Early this year, Jen Psaki, who was the White House press secretary at the time, praised her for her incredible talent.

“Vedant Patel and I often troll the fact that we give him easy work. No, not us. Because of his extraordinary talent alone Psaki told reporters in the first week of April during her routine news conference.

I will only say that Vedant is a superb writer. He writes rapidly. If that suggests that he may be a wire reporter, I’m not sure. I think he has a very strong career in government ahead of him, and I think what he does to help me, help all of us, and help the President every day is incredible,” she said.
